About

Ice Racing, Speed Skating or Short Track – we are all three!

The Victorian Ice Racing Association (VIRA), formerly the Victorian Speed Skating Union (VSSU) was established in 1949. Prior to that it was part of the Victorian Ice Hockey Association. VIRA is the governing body for ice racing in Victoria.

Ice Speed Skating is an individual sport with races conducted on a 111 metre track.

Distances raced range from 500 meters to 3000 meters.
Relay races are 4 person teams over 3000 metres or 5000 meters.
We hold races from 111 meters to 800 meters for our junior members.

From beginner to veteran, our national badge program ensures a quality learning and development path from our accredited coaches.

All ages welcome! (Over 4yrs preferred for safety)
